Naturopathy uses evidence-based nutritional education, individual lifestyle recommendations, herbal medicine and supplementation where  appropriate to help bring a person to their optimal state of health.

The naturopathic philosophy takes a holistic view, which means that all aspects of the individual in the context of their medical history, their environment and their family history are considered. The main aim is to nurture individual vitality, to avoid suppression of symptoms and to encourage the healing ability of the body, mind and spirit.

Naturopathy  includes an evidence-based medicine approach; that is, the use of current, high quality clinical data, along with traditional and empirical knowledge, to achieve the best quality health outcomes possible.

In Australia, a Naturopath is required to achieve a high level of qualification in order to be able to competently and confidently help patients in their journey towards good health.

Most naturopaths belong to a registering body such as The Australian Traditional Medicine Society  or The Australian Natural Therapists Association, or The Naturopath and Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA).  These societies assess a Naturopath’s qualifications and ongoing experience, and registration with them provides reassurance to a patient that the naturopath has achieved the appropriate level of qualifications to practice.
